Who is involved with MarTEL?

The Martel partnership consists of several major accredited education and training centres in seven EU member states. There are nine active and many silent partners involved with the project including two major awarding and validating bodies. The Martel project was proposed by Professor Ziarati as a consequence of issues addressed at the 2006 International Marine Organisation’s (IMO) Maritime Safety Committee (MSC). The project is owned and managed by the Centre of Factories for the Future based in the United Kingdom and TUDEV Turkish Maritime Institute in Istanbul. Four of the Martel partners have been involved in the EU Leonardo da Vinci SOS project (2005-2007) designed to develop and implement an integrated programme of education and training for officers and cadets in the merchant navy. Whereas, five of the partners have been involved in the EU Leonardo da Vinci EGMDSS project (2006-2008) developing e-learning tools for improving maritime communications. Both projects have been extended. The new projects are named, M’AIDER and EGMDSS-VET. For more information on these new projects please refer to www.c4ff.co.uk.
